The Red Poppies

 

The red poppies are symbols to remember the end of world war 1. Veteran's Day or Remembrance Day (Poppy Day) is the day to remember all of the soldiers who fought and died in the war. Veteran's Day is on November 11th and to recall the hostilities of the war on the date November 11th 1918. The poppy has become a symbol of world war 1 due to the poem "In Flanders Field". It showed   These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I. The bright red color symbolizes the blood the came from the war. These bright red poppies were growing around all the fallen soldiers.

        The day was specifically dedicated by King George V on November 7th 1919 as a day of remembrance for the soldiers that were killed during the war. The very first official Veteran's Day or Remembrance Day was help at Buckingham Palace on the morning of November 11th. This set the tradition to have a day for remembrance for our decades to come.
