My favorite rotunda project was the child marriage one; I think the visual representation with the colored pegs showing the frequency of child marriage for young girls was very moving. Also the pegs show that if we were all in a different country that most of us 18 year old girls would be married already. I found some of the statistics very disturbing like the one that by the age of 15, 1 in 9 girls will be child brides or the one that girls under 15 that get pregnant are five times more likely to die in childbirth.
I believe that more should be done for these girls in places like Niger and Bangladesh. There should be rules and universal laws. The project said that this was mostly due to girls being in poverty and unable to survive without getting married so maybe there should be more shelters or money going to the poor people. Another way to fix this is increasing feminism in these countries The project said that these child marriages could be caused by gender inequality so we should increase women's morale and equality.
