Conspiracy theories:
I thought since we may be doing a
unit on conspiracy theories, I would do some research and find out some
different possible theories we could look at in class. A conspiracy theory is
defined as a belief that some covert but influential organization is
responsible for a circumstance or event.
The JFK Assassination:
President John F. Kennedy was
assassinated on Nov. 22, 1963, struck by two bullets one in the head, one in
the neck while sitting in the backseat of an open topped limo through Dealey
Plaza in Dallas Texas. Lee Harvey Oswald has been charged for the murder and it
was found that he worked alone. But many think it is impossible that he worked
alone and believe that there is a bigger power behind all of this. Many believe
that there was more than one gunman. JFK along with Governor John Connally were both shot within a
split second, and there is no way that it couldve been only one gunman. The
origin of both bullet woons didn’t add up. Others believe Kennedy was
killed by CIA agents acting either out of anger over the Bay of Pigs or at the
command of Vice President Lyndon Johnson or by mobsters that were mad at
Kennedy's brother for initiating the prosecution of organized crime rings.
The 9/11:
After
the tragic events of September 11, 2001 accrued, many different theories began
to rise. Some believe that certain people inside the towers knew it was going
to happen, according to an article “Right before the September 11th attacks, some fishy business happened
within the stock market and insurance firms. An “extraordinary” amount of put
options were placed on United Airlines and American Airlines
stocks, the same airlines that were hijacked during the attacks. Many speculate
that traders were tipped off about the attacks and profited from the tragedy.
The Securities and Exchange Commission launched an insider
trading investigation in which Osama Bin Laden was a
suspect after receiving information from at least one Wall Street Firm.”.
others believe that a bomb caused the towers to collapse and not the planes.
And some even believe that the president proffited from the events.
The death of Princess Diana:
On
August 31, 1997 Princess Diana was killed in a car accident. Some believe that
the royal family was behind the accident. They believe that the royals thought
the Princess wanted to ruin the crown by marrying Dodi Al Fayed, a Muslim. It was even
speculated that Diana was pregnant with Al Fayed's child. Others believe that
Al Fayed’s enemies were behind it all while others think that Diana herself did
it.
Each one is potentially very interesting Ashley. I'm partial to the JFK debate, but let's see what everyone else thinks.
ReplyDeleteI would love to talk about the JFK assassination conspiracy. I have heard about some of the theories you had mentioned, like the the one with the mobsters. JFK was such an inspirational president and it was so tragic for him to be assassinated. I would like to talk about the parellels to Abraham Lincolns assassination.
ReplyDeleteI would also like to talk about the royal family conspiracy. I know nothing on the topic and it really interests me. Hope we talk about this next unit and great post.
