Sydney hostage situation

Today, 12/14/14, was a scary day for people just trying to get their coffee. People were taken hostage by an Islamic man. The cafe released a statement saying that 10 employees and 30 people were in the cafe at the time of the hostage. The man shielded the windows of the store with a black islamic flag. On the flag it stated 'There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger" He held the people in the store for about 3 hours until sydney police gunned him down. Unfortunately, the gunman had killed two hostages before police were able to kill him. The man clearly had some type of issue with the Australian government because the cafe that he chose to hold hostage was next store to the local parliament building, and across the street from the Reserve bank of Australia. I'm guessing he was trying to hold politicans and workers of the bank hostage to get his point across. The flag presented is the flag of Muhammad and his followers. The black flag is the known representation of the jihadist. The Jihad is an extremist interpretation of Islam. They are known for their terrorist actions against people who don't follow them.
