With the controversial decision to not indict the police officer for causing the death of Eric Garner, protests have occurred. "The outrage has weighed especially heavy after the police shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. When the grand jury in St. Louis County announced it would not indict Officer Darren Wilson in Brown's death, protests dotted the American map. Likewise in the Garner case."(cnn).
The circumstances that had resulted in the death of eric garner was an chokehold by Daniel Pantaleo and garner not being able to breathe. Garners mother requested that the demonstrators remain peaceful in there protests. So far the protests have included "die ins" and "sit ins". The protests are at high levels in NYC because the even occurred so close by. Demonstrators have walked for blocks and stages "die ins" at large stores such as Macy's where they seem to lie on the ground having signs that say "I can't breathe"- Eric garners last words. However, protests are not just in NYC , but all over America. For example, "Students lay down on campus walkways for dozens of yards in a die-in at Emory University in Atlanta on Friday"(cnn).I believe that the Eric garner protestors seem to be more successful with gaining public awareness due to their peaceful ways. There needs to be something done to console the loss of garner to his family, because this situation just doesn't seem right. What most bothers me is that the incident was video taped and yet there was no indictment. At least the demonstrators are displaying the message in many non violent ways and that it is gaining widespread attention

Yes, it's hard to watch that video and not feel that the officer should at least have to stand trial. Perhaps he still would have been acquitted, but at least justice would have been served more completely.
