Nixon's secret bombing

During a war that had been going on for almost a decade, president Richard Nixon  consulted his national Security Advisor, Henry Kissinger, to retaliate after the North Vietnamese launched a new offensive against American forces in South Vietnam from their sanctuaries in Cambodia.  What they decided to do was to bomb Cambodia in hopes of destroying the bases  of the North Vietnamese hidden in the Cambodian jungles. They were aware that their actions would cause chaos once it was leaked to the public so they struggled to keep the bombings a secret from the nation. After a few weeks of waiting and attempting to convince Cambodia to cut ties with the Vietnamese, orders were finally set to bomb Cambodia. 

Without the consent from Congress, Nixon ordered more and more bombings codenamed breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and supper, concluding with operation menu. Innocent civilians of Cambodia were killed in the airstrikes. Nixon's secret bombings did not remain a secret and his decision to set airstrikes on Cambodia without permission was extremely unprofessional and is not something I and many others expect our elected president to hide from the public.
