Lots of ways to be wounded in war
Bullets, grenades, rockets and so much more

Some are mortally wounded and die right away
Take a big hit and don't last the day

Others are wounded but survive
Takes some time but they revive

There is one type of wound that you can't see
Just ask a few questions and you will agree

This wound stays with you for life
Infects, festers and causes real strife

Some survive it 
Some commit

Regardless of the type wound you receive
War will kill you eventually I believe.


This poem described the ways people can be wounded in war. Although many people are physically wounded from Bullets, rockets and grenades, like the poem says, people walk out of war with a serious mental illness called P.T.S.D which is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This is a type of anxiety disorder. it can occur after you have gone through an extreme emotional trauma that involved the threat of injury or death. Having this disorder can seriously affect someones daily life.

In my opinion, this poem is very strong and speaks a lot. At first it explains the physical ways you are wounded in war, which may seem like the only way possible. Soldiers can either get wounded and die right away or they have the strength to survive. The 7th line said that there's a type of wound you cant see and if you just ask that person a few questions you will clearly be able to see that they are mentally scared from their experiences. The next lines say that this wound will stay with you for the rest of your life. These horrifying sights, sounds and experiences are embedded into your head and you cant escape them. My friends grandfather experienced P.T.S.D and it was not just traumatic for that person but for the entire family. No one wants to see someone go through what these soldiers do in war. Towards the end of the poem the writer says "some survive it some commit". Some soldiers cannot take the thoughts they have to deal with on a daily basis so they end up taking their own lives. The last 2 lines in the poem, i feel speak so much. The writer believes that no matter what case it is, war will eventually kill you in the long run. I personally agree with the writer.
