Ares: God of War

Throughout history, specifically in mythology, there have been specific gods and goddesses responsible for wars and the results of wars.

Ares: Greek god of war. He was known mostly for being the more brash, "manly" side of war. Ares, in several mythological tales, was known for making decisions based on feelings, as opposed to wisdom and logic. Ares was known for supporting the Trojans in the Trojan war, against the majority of the other gods and goddesses, causing controversy. Artistically, he is represented in several fashions due to a lack of a consistent physical description. Below is a photo of a statue of Ares. Depicted as a fairly young man, he is seen posing in a triumphant stance, typical for that of a god.

Ares, Father of Victory,

Known by Many Names,

Leader of Men, 

Lord of the Dance,

And Ares of the Mighty Heart.

Ares, the Greek God of War who is better known as the Roman god named Mars.

For some reason, I found it hard to determine accurate information on Ares. Every other god or goddess, for example Zeus or Athena, had reliable and accurate sources and information. But, historians cannot agree on even the simple fact of his general appearance. Why is the god of war so ambiguous?
