Yet offensive

January 31, 1968 the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces had a surprise attack on the South American forces. The attack was done on the Tet holiday which was agreed to be a ceasefire. The attack was on multiple cities in south Vietnam. Although the South Vietnam forces and U.S. Forces were able to hold off the invasion forces, it was a major turning point of the war and that was the start of the long, slow U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam.
The tet offensive had a heavy impact on the war. North Vietnamese held better positions and the U.S. troops were weary from battle. Also the offensive was broadcasted to the public back in the U.S. This made more people not support the war because of the high casualties in the battle of hue.
